CWG: Remain Focused, Chef-De-Mission Tells Malaysian Athletes

By P. Vijian

NEW DELHI, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's Chef-de-mission Tan Sri Abdul Halil Abd Mutalif said Malaysian athletes have started off well by collecting six medals at the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games so far but wants them to "remain focused" to excel further.

"So far they are doing well, we have two gold, two silver and two bronze medals. But I have been telling them to remain focused.

"We could have done better in the last two days if only they (athletes) had concentrated more and focused on the competition," Halil told Bernama.

He said the weightlifting team had done beyond expectations, winning two gold medals, a silver and a bronze while cycling would deliver.

This is the first time India is hosting the Games.

Shortly after this interview Josiah Ng won the gold in the men's keirin final in cycling.
